I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends

I’m just going to go ahead and say it: blogging is like #394879 on my priority list right now, somewhere between “finding a future husband” and “landing a sweet ass job.” Ain’t nobody got time for this. Every once in a while though, I need to feed my narcissism a little, so here we are (it took me like 234987 tries to spell “narcissism” correctly.)

Speaking of stroking my ego, right before life shot me into a tailspin and out of blog land, I finally FINALLY FINALLY got an offer for reviewing a pair of free shoes. For those of you who are still with me after all of my hiatuses, free stuff was my original goal for starting this delightful little site. Small successes. More later on those shoes…

Over the last month, I’ve done about a billion things that I’ve thought “that would make a decent blog post” sometime during. My recent life, in a nutshell:

I made stupid faces.

Tried on engagement rings (right hand rings?). I promise there is a good backstory behind this and it doesn’t involve any secret creepy fantasies of mine.

Went to Oklahoma to see my high school bestie. Drank too much and my dress was too short. I need to do better.

Went to a combination bar/driving range TopGolf, and was horrible at it (the golf, I mean… I worked the bar like a champ.)

Ate Greek food with friends.

Drank margaritas with friends.

Pippa made new puppy friends.

Went kayaking with a cripple.

Tried on my old gymnastics leotards from 5th grade (so not impressed.)

Made friends with a young Princess Leia while I was visiting a Titanic exhibit at a museum in Ft. Worth.

Rode in the biggest elevator EVER with my precious little sister.

Bought a teeth whitening system (and took selfies while using it.)

Whew. How about them apples? Even though I’ve been stupid busy, I have actually been running as well… I even bought a sweet new Garmin (FINALLY!) Too bad I still have to bring my phone with me because I can’t go for a run without getting lost at least once. I am so ready for the day when I’m at least a little settled somewhere and I actually know the area I’m in. The good thing about getting lost though, is I have to stop and google my way home so it gives me time for photo ops like this.

Sometimes I just can’t believe how talented I am. I blow my own mind.

Hope you’re all doing just swell! Today was the first day it’s been nice, pretty running weather around here in a while. Anyone else still toughing it out running in the snow? I’m not even a little bit jealous of you darn yankees.

Update me on your lives… seriously. I’m feeling a real disconnect with my blogging amigos right about now.

  1. We had a big snow about 2 weeks ago here in good old Northern Illinois, but the streets and paved paths have been clear for a while. I haven’t been out on the nature trail yet, but it tends to be a mud wallow this time of year. Thanks for posting. I was wondering what happened to you! Watch that drinking. It bit me in the ass 4 years ago and I’m still trying to recover my endurance.

  2. I’m so glad you’re back! The snow here has been calming down (knock on wood) but it’s still not all that warm out. Not much new up here in WNY…
