Every once in a while I like to do my civic duty and take a little break from cracking bad jokes to show a little social awareness. My special buddy Mitchell asked me to mention something about World Autism Awareness Day coming up tomorrow, and also to let you guys know that April is Autism Awareness Month aka it’s just one big party all month long. You can go here to learn more about Light It Up Blue, autism, and what you can do to help out. There are even badges you can put on your blog so you can “Light it up blue” too!
Mitchell was nice enough to give me permission (no $50,000 HIPPA violations here) to use a few pictures of us working hard in the pool during aquatic therapy. I’m a mean mean lady but for some reason he still wants to be my friend… thank goodness!
In other life news, I’m living in Hot Springs, AR for the next 7 weeks- a beautiful land full of old people, spas, and heart-attack inducing elevation changes. I think my shin splints are getting shin splints of their own… I know there is a silver lining here somewhere regarding these hills but I haven’t found it yet. I ended up going for a bike ride today after work instead of a run and I am so glad I did! My legs felt great and I forget how much fun flying down a hill on a road bike can be…. also, I am grateful for helmets.
Thankfully, I’m living with a woman who is basically a saint/gourmet cook who keeps me well fed and replaces all the calories those hills are taking out of me (plus some.)
Seriously, I may never leave. They’re going to have to drag me out of this house screaming when May comes around. Terri (aka my saintly second mother) also plays frisbee with Pippa, washes my clothes, and has a deep appreciation for fine wines. Is this love?
Study time for this crazy girl- hope you all have a great week!
What’s the best home-cooked meal you’ve eaten recently?
What kinds of things do you do to crosstrain? Bike? Yoga? Pole dance?
